Vampires

My weekend was nice. Saturday I did chores and ran errands. I had my clothing donations rejected (!) by one charity cause they didn't feel like sorting them, so I had to take them to another.

On Sunday, I did my Long IFR Cross Country. It was awesome - and really good for me to work with the "system", because I was definitely rusty. Now all I have left is some practice for my check ride... oh yeah, and my WRITTEN exam (must study) and 10 more hours of VFR cross country (need to get on the trip planning). I'll post more on this later when I transfer some pictures to my computer.

Oh, and I read a whole entire book yesterday afternoon. Ok, it was Young Adult, but even for me, a book in an afternoon is quite an experience.

Twilight (Twilight Series, Book 1) Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cell phone conversation at bookstore with my Mom:

Me: Have you heard of these Twilight books they have on display everywhere at the bookstore? They look like they are crossover young adult to bestseller. (we both share a love for the occasional YA novel)

Mom: Everyone who's anyone has heard of Edward Cullen!

Me: Who? The author is Stephanie Meyer.

Mom: Edward Cullen! Everyone knows who he is!

Me: Who?

Mom: The heart throb vampire at the center of these novels.

Me: The only heart throb vampire I know is Angel from Buffy.

Mom: Oh, darling, you are so out of the loop!

And its true, apparently these books (now a trilogy) are quite the rage with teenagers (which I no longer am). They have calendars. And apparently its soon to be a movie.

So I decided to give it a try. Maybe I was in the mood for a romance, but the first book was awesome. Mostly romance, a little suspense, lots of fantasy thrown in for the mix. And a lot of blantant YA level foreshadowing of other stories that make me want to read the next books.

Piles Of Rock
A little bit of hope for the places I'll go, a few memories of the places I've been, and some humdrum in between to fill the white space.
