Uneventful

This has been one of the most uneventful week's I've had in a long time.

Last night I had a flying lesson. Things are going pretty well on the instrument rating front. We're doing our long cross country in a couple weeks, probably making it an all-Saturday affair to do some siteseeing too. I need to study my bookwork more and make a dent bigger dent in my cross country hours. Last night, though, I totally blew a landing, slamming the plane into the runway. I've had hard landings, but its been years since I've bounced the plane back into the air. Ouch. Well, it reminded me not to be too cocky, I should have circled to land instead of diving into the runway in front of me too fast.

I don't have any big plans for the weekend. Tonight Byron and I are going sailing. Probably again tomorrow too. Maybe a little shopping (need some more short-sleave shirts to get me through the remainder of summer). And maybe some doing nothing. I haven't been sleeping well all week, I've been having weird dreams. One night I dreamt that I was counting everything. Books. Couches. People. I counted in my dream all night. One night I dreamt that my job relocated me to Oklahoma and I refused to go and was starting a rebellion with people at work. I don't even remember my dreams from last night, but I know they woke me up a couple of times shaking my head in confusion.

What disturbs me more is that I don't have any plans for July 4 weekend. A three day weekend and I have no plans to go anywhere or do anything. I have always been a little weary of travel on big holidays like that, but I have often gone up to the cottage on July 4 (this year I am not going up until the end of the month at the soonest). Even around here things are too busy on holiday weekends to make plans for the beach or something. I am just not really tolerant of crowds I guess. Still, I'd like to take advantage of a long weekend for something, anything...

Last night Byron surprised me by painting the trim around my skylight green to match the kitchen. I think I like it. I like it even better because he did it... so nice. But no more chores for him, he's leaving to start flying the 747 on Tuesday after a nearly 2 month wait since he finished ground school! Looking at his schedule (which I am sure is subject to change), he's going to be spending a lot of time in Anchorage, Alaska, including several multi-day layovers. Anchorage! In July! I'm sure its not so much fun in December... but in July? So jealous. His other exotic destination is South Korea.

Piles Of Rock
A little bit of hope for the places I'll go, a few memories of the places I've been, and some humdrum in between to fill the white space.
