Skiing

So sad skiing is over.

Now we're sitting in the Denver airport waiting for our flight home.

Good news: I think Byron likes skiing. He can ski greens, snow plow, turn and stop. Like Sarah and Jose, he seems to like Breckenridge best. We "tore it up" there on the bunny runs yesterday. The other two days we skiied at much-cheaper Loveland, which is literally sloped right over the Continental Divide (you can see the tunnel from many of the runs!) In fact, we had only planned on skiing two days and Byron liked it so much, we decided to ski a third day instead of snow mobile. Being his geeky self, he also spent each evening googling skiing techniques. Yes, I am not joking about that.

The weather was fabulous and variable. The first day was sunny and really warm. The second day was a blizzard but the snow was so thick you couldn't help but smile as you glided through it. Today was sunny again and I felt like I could see the entire front range from the top of the mountains. Unfortunately, today was also frigid, temperatures in the teens without the wind chill and probably a lot colder with (they had frost bite warnings on the lift!)

As for the all important "what did you eat"? Well, unplanned, it became the weekend of microbrews. Colorado is famous for its microbrews, so on night one, I had already planned to go to my favorite Breckenridge Brewery. The next night we didn't really have a plan until someone at the front desk told us we had to try the Dammed Brewery in Dillon, so off we went. Last night, well, we were planning on a cozy little Italian place down the street from our hotel. However, in the hot tub after skiing, the locals told us if we liked microbrews, we had to try Pug Ryans. A quick google showed they had a smoked trout appetizer at which point I tossed our dinner plans out the window and off we went to have my favorite fish dish (and pretty good beer too).

If you are still wondering about meals, I can tell you about the enormous plates of breakfast we had that kept us full all day. Yum. Bet your mouth is watering now.

I can't believe its already time to go back home.

Piles Of Rock
A little bit of hope for the places I'll go, a few memories of the places I've been, and some humdrum in between to fill the white space.
