Blog went belly up... Again, I was nailed by horrible comment spam. Here's the e-mail I got from Dreamhost:
I'm writing you about your database, pordb. The database was causing some severe load on the mysql server, it seems from some very slow queries due to a huge amount of MT comment spam. The mt_comment table has over 400,000 comments in it, and queries on it are taking a long time to process. Disabling your mt_comment table so these queries don't run drops the load from 100 to 2 on the mysql server, so unfortunately it is your database. Please clear out spam comments, make sure some form of spam protection is in place, and then it can be re-enabled.
If you have any suggestions, let me know. Maybe a captcha thing on my comments? Though I was never able to implement one before, I finally had to have Sarah do it.
Until then, guess you'll just have to e-mail me comments.
