Mr Fix It

I was a little worried about having I.B. around all week. I was kind of used his 4 days gone - 2 days around schedule. When he is in town, spending time with him is... well, time consuming. But this is definitely a winner. Despite his almost inability to move do to his rib injury (at least that's what he assumes it is), he can't sit still, and isn't mobile enough to go sailing, and can't stand vegging out for very long, so its lead him to take on some much needed home improvements... at my home!

In the last 24 hours, he's changed my storm door latch, rewired my light switches so my porch light is on a timer, replaced the door closer thing on my storm door and is going to spend today considering (and hopefully solving) the problem of the dog scratched up molding by replacing the molding around the doors (if he can find some of the right size).

Maybe he should call in sick more often and he could remodel my whole house (he also came back from his umpteenth trip to home depot with flooring samples to replace my very degraded carpet situation.)

On another subject, I don't agree with this editorial at all, well maybe a little, the space program could use an image make over, but the author's description of shuttle missions makes me laugh:

1. To much fanfare, a shuttle launch date is announced, and then immediately scrapped because of anticipated weather trouble at Cape Canaveral.

2. Despite NASA meteorologists' ongoing concerns about "patchy early morning clouds," the shuttle manages to achieve liftoff.

3. NASA officials announce that they've discovered a previously unknown structural problem with the shuttle such as faulty tiles, defective heat shields or a "leaky oil pan."

4. The news media nervously report that the astronauts will attempt to repair the shuttle's exterior with an unplanned and potentially risky spacewalk. Luckily, the announcers add, this crew happens to include Virgil "Bondo" Bonderman, the first auto body repair shop employee to go into space.

5. Having successfully fixed whatever was wrong with the shuttle, the astronauts are cleared for reentry. However, out of fear of a cold front, a warm front or a "front that is basically room temperature" moving toward Florida, they are redirected to land at Edwards Air Force Base in California.

6. After receiving a heroes' welcome, the astronauts are dismayed to learn that they will be billed extra for dropping off the shuttle at a site different from the original rental location.

Piles Of Rock
A little bit of hope for the places I'll go, a few memories of the places I've been, and some humdrum in between to fill the white space.
