90210 v.2.0

Celebrity sightings so far still at zero. I've been told (always count on a hairdresser to gossip) that Catherine Zeta-Jones, Queen Noor, and the wife of the former Shah of Iran are currently in residence at the hotel. With only a few hundred guests, you'd think I'd encounter them. But let's be real, I am really not sure I'd recognize a celeb if I came face to face with one, I'm so out of touch. I think I may be able to recognize Queen Noor, only because her face stared off her autobiography in every bookstore I entered for (at least seemingly) a very long time. I guess its good that I am more likely to recognize a celebrity because of literary encounters than boob-tube ones.

There's some sort of posh event going on today, there are about a million people gathered around the red carpet in the lobby entrance into the hotel. They are dressed really well. The conceirge says its some sort of fundraiser for some scholarship thing. There are a lot of really really beautiful people here in general. I felt like a slob at the pool in a t-shirt. I always thought that when I went to Miami I would never find a place that had more beautiful people. I was wrong. This place makes Miami-ites look average.

I'd take some pictures, however, I learned today when I tried that cameras are basically strictly verbotten on the grounds here. Paparazzi, dawwwwling, can be a real problem.

Today we went to the Getty Center. Unbelievable. The architecture and landscaping. It was amazing. No matter where you were on the vast hilltop grounds, in any direction you turned you were greeted by a picture perfect blend of buildings and scenery. It is now added to my "absolute must see" of LA tourist destinations.

This place is definitely an architect's dream. By the Malibu house, my aunt pointed out one house on the hill that was built in kind of a Japanese style that just seemed to flow with the entire hilltop. Apparently the residents of the house have a private fenicular to take them up there.

This is not how the other half lives. This is how the other 0.01% lives.

Remember Me?

Piles Of Rock
A little bit of hope for the places I'll go, a few memories of the places I've been, and some humdrum in between to fill the white space.
