I am occasionally lucky enough to have semi-lucid dreams. Usually the way it goes is my dream-self realizes that some part of the dream is out of timeline (usually something that is not supposed to happen yet or has already happened), and then realizes its a dream. My dream-self then proceeds to decide what it can do to manipulate the dream. Usually, it decides on self-levitation so I go flying around the dream sequence, or sometimes telekinesis (moving objects with my mind). I'm told these are very common recurring themes in dreams.
Last night I dreamed that I was late to fly on the "Vomit Comet" with my teachers when my dream-self realized that weeks had passed since they were in town. I then realized it was a dream. Instead of my usually magic tricks, I decided to just play along with the dream, because, heck, what's the purpose of forcing your mind to think you're flying when you're about to climb on a microgravity airplane...
Ok, I know that sounds really contorted, but there it is. Unfortunately, I woke up shortly thereafter to a blaring alarm clock.

I get made fun of a lot for my childhood predilection for going to Star Trek conventions. Yes, even surrounded by nerds on a daily basis, there are some things even they consider nerdier than the "norm". Anyway, if you want to experience a sci-fi convention, this video is hilarious. Basically, these guys interview someone who is supposed to be dressed up as Joss Whedon (Buffy and Firefly, is there any thing better?) for the convention, but he actually IS Joss Whedon. Cracked me up. Here's the link.
